Bees. I can’t lie and say that I’m not terrified of these guys, and what I have always viewed as their creepy little stingers. But I also completely respect and see how necessary, amazing, and valuable these magnificent creatures are!
Einstein was quoted saying “If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.” Essentially, they make the world go round. More people, and companies, should really work to gain a better understanding of just how valuable these bees truly are.
One company who is at the forefront of grasping this concept, is Apis Mercantile. These guys have done their research and have a fantastic story!
Co-founders John and Liam met as teenagers. In 2010 John moved on to the College of Charleston and was joined in 2011 by Liam, a handful of other friends and Matt, their partnered hemp partner. In their small backyard, John and Liam began their first beehives, while Matt started an expansive garden. Before they knew it, their bees were pollinating flowers all over the Charleston peninsula!
Fast forward to today, through Apis Mercantile they create thoughtful, luxurious products with nurturing ingredients such as Hemp, Manuka Honey, Royal Jelly, Beeswax, and propolis. Hemp is a natural antioxidant, and Manuka Honey is known for its antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Apis has partnered with beekeepers all over the country to source the best, purest honey available.
Royal Jelly is packed with amino and fatty acids and is considered a transformative substance. Beeswax is a natural humectant, meaning it pulls moisture from the air into the skin, and propolis has antibacterial properties that helps to protect the skin.
With the various products Apis Mercantile has created, giving kudos to their concern for the bees and the environment is critical. They aren’t simply worried about what the bees can do for us, but how we can care for and nurture the bees. They make clear on their website that honeybees are living creatures and, as beekeepers, they are their stewards and any honey harvested is a gift to be treasured. Additionally, Apis Mercantile health and beauty care products are produced in a Leaping Bunny, certified cruelty free facility.
I had the pleasure of trying the Hemp Body Butter and it was simply amazing. A truly quenching drink for my overly washed, drying out in the colder weather, needing some pampering Mom hands! With a very clean, light scent and a fast absorbing moisturizing cream, this body butter is a must.
